Tzaritsa Asante-Program Coordinator
In addition to being an international award winning singer/songwriter, and British Masters Heptathlon silver medallist 2017, Tzaritsa Asante is the pioneer of Pashionista, an emerging fashion label with a strong social justice accent.
It’s main message is to the underdog and the unsung hero: “Know who you are and be it!” The inspiration for this was born out of her flare for design, and her work with the marginalised from local government to the International world of NGOs, in which she has always encouraged people to stand and be counted; march to the beat of their own drum; and be a voice to their generation, in their own specific field.
As Anti-Racist Officer at UCLAN Students’ Union, this was the message promulgated, and further at the Princes Trust, where she was was principally responsible for the electoral commission project and Scotland’s Young Ambassadors (where she far exceeded all targets and expectations). In the latter post, her work saw young people transition from homelessness to working in international development.
At GARA, which served as a social arm of the Scottish Government addressing issues of integration and policy for minorities in Scotland, she was heavily engaged with youth participation and engagement; and at VSO she was posted to Ghana where she was involved in significant project breakthroughs from 3D mapping of Northern regions that would enable accurate response and observation of food security, to strategic leading and involvement of West African council for Food security. Her educational background includes: BA Film & Media (UCLAN); MA Politics and Communication (University of Liverpool); and PG. Cert. Community Education (University of Strathclyde). Education is never wasted!
